Imagine owning a week at a resort you love, with a full kitchen, room for the whole family and a vacation already waiting every year. With Timeshare Nation, you can take over a timeshare for $0. Current owners who no longer use their week pass it on to someone who will, and you pay no purchase price, no closing costs and no transfer fees. It's a free timeshare transfer, start to finish.

How a Free Timeshare Transfer Works

Taking over a free timeshare is simpler than most people expect. Here's what happens, from claim to keys. For more detail, read how a timeshare transfer works.

  1. Pick your resort. Browse every listing on our free timeshares page. Each one shows the resort, the usage, the unit size and the maintenance fee. Find one you love and click Reserve Now.

  2. Sign your $0 offer letter. We email you the offer letter, and you can sign it electronically on your computer or phone. Then send a copy of your photo ID so the transfer can begin.

  3. The transfer company takes over. A title and transfer company prepares the paperwork and works with the resort. You can check on your transfer with us anytime.

  4. Ownership moves into your name. Most transfers take about 60 to 90 days, depending on the resort. You'll get an email once the timeshare is officially yours.

  5. Start booking. The resort welcomes you as the new owner, and you can plan your first vacation.

Why Own a Timeshare

Here's why families love owning a timeshare, from our top reasons to own a timeshare.

  • Save money compared with hotel rooms. Your yearly cost is the maintenance fee, which is often far less than a week of hotel rooms. Cooking in your own kitchen saves even more.

  • Get more space. Timeshares are condo-style suites, usually with separate bedrooms, a full kitchen, a living room and often a washer and dryer.

  • Take a real vacation every year. Because the week is already yours, the time off actually gets booked.

  • Bring friends and family. A roomy suite means grandparents, cousins and friends can come along, and ownership can be passed on to family one day.

  • Travel the world. Owners can join exchange networks like RCI and Interval International, which connect thousands of resorts worldwide. Most timeshares on Timeshare Nation are affiliated with one of them.

  • Help the current owner and the resort. Owners stop using their weeks for many reasons, like age, health or changing travel plans. When you take one over, they pass it on and the resort keeps an active, happy owner.

What You'll Pay Going Forward

You pay nothing to take over ownership. There's no purchase price, no closing costs and no transfer fees, and you will never be asked to pre-pay Timeshare Nation for anything.

Once you're the owner, you start paying the resort's yearly maintenance fee, the same fee every owner at the resort pays. It's the shared cost of running and maintaining the resort you enjoy. You pay it directly to the resort or homeowners association, never to Timeshare Nation. Maintenance fees vary by resort, and each listing on our site shows its fee, so you know exactly what to expect before you reserve.

If you'd like to trade your week, an exchange network membership with RCI or Interval International is optional.

Free Weeks

Want your first vacation covered too? Many listings include a free week of use. On these, the current owner has already paid that year's maintenance fee, so the week passes to you and your first stay costs you nothing. See which listings include a free week on our free week timeshares page.

Free Timeshare Transfer FAQ

Are the timeshares really free?

Yes. You pay $0 to take over a timeshare from Timeshare Nation, with no closing costs and no transfer fees. Going forward, you pay the resort's yearly maintenance fee like every other owner, and each listing shows that fee.

How does Timeshare Nation make money if the timeshares are free?

Timeshare Nation is paid to find a new owner for each timeshare, so we don't have to charge our customers anything.

Are there any additional fees?

No. You pay nothing to take over ownership, with no closing costs or transfer fees. Once you're the owner, you pay the resort's yearly maintenance fee, the same fee every owner at the resort pays to run and maintain it. It's shown on each listing, and you pay it directly to the resort or homeowners association. The one exception is Hilton, which charges new owners a fee to join the Hilton Club.

How do I take ownership?

Click Reserve Now on any timeshare and fill out the short reservation form. We'll email you the $0 offer letter, which you can sign digitally. Then send a copy of your photo ID, and the transfer agent will guide you through any other documents the resort requires.

How long does it take to become the new owner?

Most transfers take about 60 to 90 days, depending on the resort and how quickly the paperwork moves through the transfer agent and the resort. You can check your status anytime by calling us at 800 269 5574.

This sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?

There isn't one. Maintenance fees are essential to running a resort, so every timeshare needs an owner who will use it and pay the yearly fee. Our job is to find those owners. You can learn more about our team on our about page or read customer reviews.

Who currently owns the timeshares?

Every timeshare on Timeshare Nation is owned by its current owner. Timeshare Nation markets timeshares on behalf of those owners and resorts.
